Rev. Elizabeth Evans Hagan has served as Senior Pastor at Washington Plaza
since January 2009. Her job is to lead the congregation with vision for
the future, preach regularly, and attend to the pastoral needs of the congregation.
Pastor Elizabeth holds degrees from Samford University (B.S in Education)
and Duke University (MDiv). Before coming to Washington Plaza, Pastor Elizabeth
served as Associate Pastor for Education and Youth at First Baptist Church
of Gaithersburg, MD and several pastoral internships in Alabama, North Carolina
and Washington, DC. Pastor Elizabeth holds the deep passion to help create
a community of faith where people know and love each other well, and she
feels extraordinarily fortunate to walk the journey of faith these days
with Christ-followers at Washington Plaza who feel the same. In her free
time she loves to travel, read, keep up with Duke basketball and the latest
movies, and write. Elizabeth is married to Kevin Hagan, who is the Chief
Administration Officer at Gifts in Kind International and also a deacon
at the church. She often comments on faith and life in general on her blog,
Preacher on the Plaza (http://preacherontheplaza.wordpress.com).
Wondering about Washington Plaza, interested in conversations about faith,
or just looking for a great cup of coffee? She'll happily join you -- feel
free to contact her.

she sought to describe who we are as a congregation and why our unique voice
as a congregation needs to be heard in this community: "Why
